The Coal Strike
THREE MONTHS' STRUGGLE THOUSANDS OF MEN IDLE. Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, November 24. It is stated in union circles that the miners are prepared for a three months' struggle. It is estimated that there are fifteen thousand men rendered idle alone as the result of the strike. One hundred and twentyone steamers are laid up in Commonwealth ports. Potatoes jumped a hundred per rent, to-day. CONFERENCE END IN DEADLOCK. Melbourne, November 21. The Coal Conference came to a deadlock, and adjourned till Monday. when Mr Hughes lias promised to state tlie Government's intentions.
