Mr Jack London, the well-known traveller-author, died at Gleneflen, California, states a New York cablegram.
The New Zealand Rhodes Scholars for 1.917 are Arthur Osborne Ponder, 8.A., Canterbury College, and Alexander Francis Meldrum, Victoria College, Wellington; both of whom are now serving with the Expeditionary Forces.—Press Association.
Mr George Lorimer, whose death took place on Wednesday, was a sou of the late Mr James Lorimer, of Woodend, Canterbury. Besides the widow who is left to mourn his loss, are his four sisters—Miss Lorimer (Principal of Nelson College), Mrs McPherson (of Pleasant Point, Timaru), Mrs J. Lorimer (Timaru) and Miss J. Lorimer (Christchurch). The deceased was well known for his sterling character, and was of a quiet disposition, ever reacTy to assist in any cause, and he will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends. The interment took place to-day at the Kopimtama Cemetery.
