THE WOOL QUESTION.
TERMS OF SETTLEMENT. Referring to the wool question again, Mr Geo., A. Marchant stated to a “Stratford Post’ 7 representative that all existing contracts for the disposal of wool are to be cancelled, but it has not been made clear what course will be. taken when payment has been made and delivery taken. It is quite certain, however, that the wool will have to he placed as the authorities may direct. "The New Zealand woollen mills are going to he cared for, and it is practically certain that the New Zealand fellmongers and wool-scourers will have to be fully utilised to grade the wool and value each parcel. It is fairly certain that there will be power of appeal. Payment will have to be made on the basis published in our columns yesterday, and probably cash on delivery at store. The whole matter will have to bo settled quickly; for one reason, some wool stores are already becoming congested. EXPORTATION PROHIBITED. Wellington, November 18. A Gazette Extraordinary issued today prohibits the export of wool to any destination without the consent of the Minister of Customs.
