Everybody was made welcome, and their well-kjiown reputation for hospitality was easily maintained. The various items in the icohcert programme were well selected, and were 'thorp :ghry appreciated by the company; During '■the evening, a presentation of a wristlet watch was made to the guest of the evening by Mr tl. Sangster, who Congratulated Lance-Corporal fwellingtdn on having done bis duty to his country by enlisting for active service. The gift from his friends on the Beaconsfield Bead was a small memento as a reminder of the pleasant times spent together. His sacrificing action was an example many others could follow in the great crisis of the Empire, and flic best wishes for bis future safety and return to the hind of his birth accompanied the present. The recipient briefly responded, thanking all bis friends for their kindness, arid assuring them that he would not soon forget them wherever he might be. Mr F. J. McDonald (Stratford) also made a few remarks on the object of the evening and in thanking the performers, specially mentioned''the members of tlie Scottish Society for valuable assistance; their capable dancing had provided some of the most delightful items of the evening, and the promoters of the (unction highly appreciated their presence. Mr Sangster also thanked all who had in any way assisted in the programme, and particularly the Midhirst pcopre lor the juse of their hall and for the support accorded the Boaoonslield people. Songs were given by Miss Sangster, Mrs Edmondson, Mr S. Sharpe (Stratford), Mr Bell, Mr Mameiton, and Mr 11. J. Peters (Stratford); a recitation by Miss Rowe ' (Stratford) ; and dances ivy Miss dime (Sheauntreans. Highland Fling, and Sword Dance), Mr Jock Homier (Hornpipe) and a Heel by the members of tli!> Scottish Society. The music for the dance was supplied by Miss Anderson (piano), and Mr ..I. ML Shottor made as usual an obliging and capable M.C Til? gathering broke up about 2 a.m.
