The steamer Pacifiqne from llie New Hebrides reports the landing of tin Anglo-French punitive expedition at Malekula to avenge the recent massacres. The natives wore well armed and a sharp fight ensued. Nine of the expeditionary troops were killed and a bluejacket was wounded. The natives were- severely punished, and alter the forces returned to the ships they heavily shelled the villages and plantations.
