THfc FIRSTS ALLOT. BALLOTING IN PROGRESS. NAMES TO BE GAZETTED BEFORE PUBLICATION. Per Press Association. Wellington, November 10. The first ballot under the Military Service Act was commenced by the Government Statistician this morning, Mr S. E. McCarthy, S.M., supervising and the Mayof of Wellington (Mr J. P. Buko), the President of the Trades Council (Mr J. Reardon), and press representatives were, present. 1 It is expected that the balloting will conclude at midday to-morrow. The Minister of Defence (Hon. J. Allen) states that the names, will not be published until 'they are gazetted.
