Paris, November 15, The Petit Parisiene states that Bemaflshal and Beaucourt constituted formidable German bastions for many ’months. The number of prisoners taken was six thousand. The total of the ,enemy losses is estimated at fifteen thousand. v The British penetrated* Beaiunpnt on Monday morning,. A terrific struggle ensued, but gradually the enemy retired until the occupation was complete. The configuration of . the ground favoured the enemy, who regained a foothold in the- village owing to a withering fire aiid furioiis hand-to-hand fighting, w}nch forced the British to yield ground, but soon they returned to the 'charge and swept through the village, making a prisoner of every German who was not killed. The British were further engaged
in brisk fighting on the Beaumont road, but t)ie enemy’s line soon , vcracked up,v the British'- gaining the road and linking up Beaumont and Beaucourt.' The British entered Beaucourt after thirty-six hours’ violent struggle, the advance here amounting to a mile" and a-quarter in * depth.
