Colonel Repiugton writes: “Britain must reply to Germany’s phenomenal mass levy by granting the statutory power for the use of the whole of her manhood and ultimately of her womanhood, Half measures will be no longer possible. London, November 14. 1 here were exciting scenes at the sale of Nigerian properties, at which a crowd of business men were present, many of them being hostile to tho sale. Before the sale the Colonial Office amended the conditions of auction, enabling Air Bonar Law to disapprove of any purchase and end a contract without reasons being given, also enabling the Governor of the colony to require any owner or lessee to prove that ho was not a trustee for any enemy subject or company under onemv control.
