CENSUS RETURNS.
WELLINGTON AND SUBURBS. Per Press Association. Wellington, November 15. The census figures give the following totals for the lily and suburban areas: —

Wellington 71,095 61,372 Karori 1.047 1 ,‘l|l9 Onslow 2,191 1,7c'9 Miramar 2,118 1,030 Lower Halt 4,888 4.240 Johnsonville ... g 887 1.4129 ; '['here are 1 1,990 occupied houses in the city, 361 unoccupied, and 113 in course of erection. . m:' In South Canterbury, the males show a total of 18,095, and the leiiales 18,(597, or a total of 30,792. In 1911 the numbers were: Males, 18,742; females, 10,847 ; or a total ol 115,589. For Timaru borough the total is 12,274, as compared with 11,280.
The population of the ICgmont Comity is 3202, being 109! males ami 150 S females. 'l'liis includes the town district of Opunako, the population of whieli is 459, viz, 227 males and 232 females. Last census the population of the County was 3204, and of the town district oil. The former just shows a decrease of two, and tne latter a decrease of 52, or 10 per cent.
