AN URGENT APPEAL.

COMFORTS FOR THE SOLDIERS.

Per Press Association. Wellington, November 9. The Y.M.C.A. Commissioners in England have cabled to the National Committee as follows: “Please cable at once £15,000 in addition to £IOOO in band to cover

the building and equipment requirements as follows: For France £6OOO (Sling Training Camp £SOOO and Godford Camp £1000); for Hornchurch I £2OOO, for Rrockcniiurst village £2OOO, , for Rrockcniiurst Hospital £IOOO, for Shakespeare Hut, for bedrooms and necessary work in progress the sum of £2OOO is urgently needed. “Wo are visiting France from the ■lib to the 13th inst., and have already arranged for four buildings there and authorised six other portable huts in the New Zealand division | area. “After consultation with General Russell, the plans for England were 'cordially approved by General Richardson. There is tremendous need for it this winter. “The Sling Camp has 5000 men and only on© institute. There is great need here, as the weather is colder, wetter, and it is further from a largo centre. “The comforts for the fighting area will absorb the minimum of £IOOO monthly. “Got all the money you can for trench comforts and semi quickly.”
