The Admiralty states that the steamer Arab was torpedoed and sunk without warning, in the Mediterranean at noon on Monday. Passengers numbering 437, whereof 169 were worn o and children, were picked up by various vessels which were diverted to the scene of the disaster. Two engineers are missing and believed to be killed by an explosion. The rest of the crew were saved.
