Paris newspapers universally reclare, that Poland's autonomy is a subterfuge, designed to supplement the depleted armies at the expense of Polish i hopes. ! The Chronicle's Amsterdam correspondent states that German newspapers have for months ingeniously attempted to prepare the Polish feel-1 ing for flocking to the German colors j ia flattering and persuasive articles, appreciative of the Polish detach-, nients. They emphasise the advantage of the creation of a buffer State protecting East Prussia, and significant-' ly add: "We may not always have a Hindenburo- to deal with the Russian » i menace.
It is reported that Hindenburg has insisted upon the immediate raising of 700,000 Polish levies.
