A cable states that the, King,of Montenegro paid a three days’ visit to the British and French fronts.

The death is announced from London of Lord Clanmorris, at the age of 64. His heir is the Hon. Arthur Clanraorris, who is 37 years old.

The freedom of the city of London has been conferred on the Right Hon. W. P. Massey, reports a cablegram to-dav.

At the recent Victoria College examinations, Miss Jessie Dunn, daughter of Mr F. Dunn, Auroa. obtained first-class honors in English.

Mr F. W. Okey received a cable yesterday from his son, Regimental Sergeant-Major Roy Okey, stating that he is in England, receiving training for a commission.

On Wednesday evening, Major Gardale (formerly of Hawera), whilst motoring from Featherston, collided with another cyclist, and was seriously injured.

The death occurred at Mastcrton on Friday last of Mr Daniel Daley, formerly a well-known Settler in the Invercargill district. He was 76 years of age, and leaves one son an<| three daughters.
