PERSONAL.
Mr J. Masters, Stratford, received a cable last night that his son, Dick, is leaving England by the "Maheno."
Mr G. Mcßain, of the well-known firm of Mcßain and Childs, Stratford, left by this morning's train for Napier," where he will spend a short holiday. Mr, and Mrs G. W. Mills and family were \ passengers by this morning's train for Palmerston North, their future home. A number of friends were on the platform to wish them good-bye. Mr Richard Aylward, farmer, of Kohuratahi, who met with a serious accident to his knee a few days ago whilst pig hunting, and was attended by Dr. Steven, has returned home, but it will be a long time before ho will be able to follow his usual duties.
Mr J. W. Buchler, who was killed in action in France recently, was for some time a teacher at Urenui. He leaves a widow and little son to mourn their loss. The deceased was a brother of Lieutenant Lance Buchler, who left the Stratford School with the 13th Reinforcements. Another brother is headmaster of a school at Palmerston North.
