NEWTON KING'S REPORTS. On Thursday, 26th October, I held ( my opening sale at Ohura. Favored j with a fine day, there was a big yard- I ing of all classes of stock, which, with few exceptions, were in excellent condition. A fine lino of 85 three to three and a-half year bullocks from Mr Sam Meredith attracted particular attention, and spoke volumes for the grazing properties of the Ohura country. The attendance at the sale was a record, buyers were present from the Waikato to/ Wanganui, and competition from start to finish was very keen, excellent prices being realised. Mixed yearlings made £6 Is, steer do. £5 to £7 3s, heifer do £4 15s to £5 7s, 18-months steers £8 14s 6d to £9, 2 to 2*-years £9 1/8 to £lO Bs, 24 to 3-year bullocks £ll to £l2 9s, 3 to 4-year do. £l3 4s to £l4, store cows £7 12s 6d to £8 13s, forward do. £9 to £9 17s 6d fat do. £l3 ss, cows and calves £9 lis, bulls £7 to £l3, stags £7 2s Gd to £lO <b 6d. \, ~ At Kaponga on Friday 27th there was a full yarding, yearling., heitors made £4 15s to £5 12s, yearling steers £5 13s to £6 Is, yearling bulls £5 12s 6d to £6 12s 6d, dairy bulls up to £l4, fat cows £l3 17s to £l3 19s forward cows £lO 15s to £ll 15s. store cows £6 6s to £9 Bs, springing heifers £lO 10s to £ls 10s, dairy cows up to £l3 10s. At. At mv Stratford Supplementary Bull Fair on Saturday 28th, ShortIhorn bulls made £9 10s to £ls, Jersey bulls £5 10s to £l4 3s 6d. At Stony ltivei- on Tuesday 31st, there was a full yarding of good cattle, all of which sold under keen competition. At TTrtiti on Thursday, 2nd inst,, most cattle came forward in excess of' advertised numbers. There was a good attendance of buyers, and a record sale was held.
