BOOT CONTRACTOR FINED.

Auckland, November 3
Adam Mooore, Ltd., of Auckland was fined the sum of £2OO by the Hon. A. M. Myers for a breach of contract with the Department, namely, for .using shorter tacks in the heelst than, was stipulated for, causing the heels to become loose. Mr Myers out that Mr Moore had supplied over 30,000 pairs'bf boots to the Defence Department, and that, up td the delivery referred to, had given every satisfaction.
STATE COAL MINERS.
Grey mouth, November 2
Tho State miners have resolved on a restricted output, pending settlement of the dispute in regard to the timbering of working places. They are now earning 12s per day, plus 10 per cent, war bonus.
ALLEGED SHEEP-STEALINC.

The police arrested to-day Rudolph Edward Kreegher, a well-known farmer of Halcombe, on a charge of the alleged theft in June last of 86 sheep, the property of Jame*s Howard, of the Westoe Estate, Greatford. The accused will be brought before the Court to-morrow.
