CROQUET.

■ ■ * The tenth annual meeting of the 1 Stratford Croquet Cit’d) was held in the Club’s Pavilion on Tuesday afterI noon, Mrs R. Dingle presiding.

Tire report and balance-sheet was read and adopted. The report states that notwithstanding the extra expense that the club had been put to owing to tlie cyclonic disturbance, at the end of last season, which destroyed the club’s property, the finances were in a very satisfactory condition. Hus was mainly owing to the work done gratis by Messrs Reader and Dingle in erecting a machinery shed and tanx I stand, the timber for tank stand being kindly given by Mr Boon, ami the tank fittings being Mrs Dingle’s

donation to the club. The proceeds from two social evenings held had also helped considerably towards expenses. The re-election of the pavilion had cost the club £2l 10s, but the flooring to the building had still to be done. It has been decided to put in a concrete one when funds permit. In February, the Lawn Fete held by the Croquet ..nd Park Tennis Clubs combined, in aid of the distressed Serbians, proved an unqualified success. The acting-secretary (Mr Arthur) being enabled to hand to the Secretary of the Serbian Relief Committee the sum of £45. Special thanks are due to those already mentioned who have helped the club so liberally, and the others who also assisted by replacing sundries, crockery, etc., that were destroyed.

The following officers were elected: President, Mrs R. Dingle; vice-presi-dent, ,Mrs N. J. King; committee, Mesdames Reader, Lawrence, White, Dixon; secretary, Mrs L. Riera ; auditor, Mr C. Penn; green warden, Mr R. Dingle. GENERAL.

Votes of thanks were passed to the retiring officers and committee. It was regretted that the Club had lost several members through absence this year, but as a number of now ones were joining, an enjoyable and successful season was anticipated. The opening was fixed for Thursday, 9th November.
