The charge against Valentine Helbling, of Stratford, for . “trading with the enemy,” which came before the Justices at the Magistrate’s Court to-day was adjourned until the next sitting on 17th November. The charge reads as follows: That on 20th June, 1910, in Stratford bo did pay the sum. of £9 10s for the benefit of an enemy (to wit the Leipez Insurance Co., of Germany) thereby trading with the enemy contrary to “The Trading, with the Enemy Proclamation No. 2.”
At the local Magistrate’s Court this afternoon, before Messrs J. McClnggage ami F. J. McDonald, J.LVs, the charges against Thomas Marroclougii, of Turakawa, for “shouting” were adjourned until Friday, 171li Movemlier. The charge reads: “That on 19th September, he did purchase certain liquor in the public bar of the Junction Hotel (Toko), the said liquor being purchased for and consumed by Charles Swadling on flic premises of the said hotel.” A similar charge is also laid against the same defendant in respect of the Stratford Hop i. Similar charges are also to he heard against Charles Swadling in respbet of the Egmont Hotel, Midhirst, and the Junction Hotel, Toko.
