(Received 11.55 a.m.) London,, November 2. - The Government is drafting a Food Prices Bill, not to seek to fix prices arbitarily,* but by the purchase of commodities to endeavour to control the distribution and check preventable rise in prices. Apart from wheat, the Government’s chief problems are regarding milk and potatoes-. , The Board of Trade are assured of a good supply of rice, and suggest that' it should largely replace potatoes.
The Parliamentary air committee is not satisfied with Mr Balfour’s ' attitude towards the proposal to extend the power of Air Boards so as to enable a more vigorous and more effective. of army and naval aircraft to be made. . The Committee is applying to the municipal authorities in the Kingdom to strengthen the Committee’s endeavours to secure a stronger air policy, especially on the naval side.
The t Daily Chronicle’s Milan correspondent reports that advices from Paris’state that as a sequel to the recept Allied Government’s conference, a grand re-union of,the Allied supreme army staffs will be convened shortly in Paris'; with the object of realising more perfectly the single-front idea. The newspaper -Laseia states that in order to avoid complications, the Allies have resolved against the assembly of a peace congress at the conclusion of the War. A general outline of the conditions which it 's intended to impose on the Central Powers was decided upon in March, since when the details have been filled vn, which will be presented on the day of victory for unconditional acceptance or rejection.
