SHILLINC-A-NICHT LODGERS. IMPRISONMENT UNDER WAR REGULATIONS. Per Press Association. Auckland, November 1. Under the War Regulations, the police last night raided what is known as “a shilling a night” lodging house in Federal Street, and arrested sixteen men and two women occupants. This morning Purvis Graham (63), on a charge of keeping a house of was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment Margaret Lange, resident in house, to 9 months, and Agnes Bathurst, a resident, to G months’ imprisonment. Four others were sentenced to one month, and one man on a charge of vagrancy was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. A TOWN CLERK ARRESTED. Wellington, November 1. James Allan Webster, Town Clerk at Upper Hutt, was arrested to-day on a charge of having stolen £IOO, the property of the Upper Hutt Town Board. He' was remanded for a week. Bail was allowed. A detective informed the Court that other charges would probably be made against accused.
