The weather was line for training at Riccarton. Most of the work was done on the inside. Chakwana, outside the course proper, ran six furlongs in 1.16 1-5. Snub went a mile and a half, with Wardancer over the last ten of the full, distance, in 2.35 3-5,. and finished well.' Adjutant beat Flying Start over seven furlongs in 1.30. Elation beat Devotion over the same distance in 1.32 2-5. Splendant and Greenstreet ran six in 1.17. Disdainful covered a mile in 1.41 2-o. Nones ran a mile on the plough, the last seven furlongs taking 1.29 2-5. Chortle -beat Multiplication over half a mile in 48 2-5. Indigo and Sedd el Bahr beat Marco Bello at a mile run in 1.43. Rorke’b Drift beat John Batleyebru over a mile and a-quarter .UU- 2.i2;- Marc Anthony was better tKan : Mullingar at the end of a mile and a-quarter run in 2.10 4-5. Panmure befit' Sea Lord over six furlongs on the plough in 1.17 3-5. Fiery Cross brought home by Slogan ran a mile and a half, the last ten furlongs taking 2.10 1-5. Ringform alone ran a mile and a-quarter on the plough in 2.15. Merry Roe beat Bleriot over six furlongs on the plough in 1.16.
