The divisional totals, with increases on last year,! follow (shillings and pence omitted) : 1916. Increase. £ £ Wellington 2.945 158 Dunedin 4,038 COS Christclmrch -t,(>sl 786 Auckland 6,050 1,721 Central North 12,865 4,800 Dominion total £30,550 £8,075 In announcing tlie result to-night, Commissioner Hodder declared New Zealand led the world in responding to the Army's appeal, while Gisborne maintained the position already occupied, with the highest total of any town in the world. Haw he's "Bay, Wairarapa, Taranaki, and Manawatu were also remarkably generous in their collections. Gisborne's Lota! was £2900, an increase of £600; Hastings, £1520, an increase of £1094. A cable received from General Booth to-night congratulates New Zealand upon its fine result.
