LOCAL AND GENERAL.

A .grand concert and dance will be given in the MidhiYst Public Hall on Thursday, 9th November, under the auspices of the Edmondson Concert Company. The proceeds are in aid of the Public Hall Lighting Fund. There is in the window of Mr C. E. James, Broadway, some remarkflowers, which look like artificial, but are splendid living specimens of the Australian Waratah, the plants of 'Which were brought over from Australia by Mr C. Saunders, and were grown in the garden of .Mrs Kenyon, Ngaere. These flowers have a M wax-like appearance, conical shaped, and of a reddish color.
