Home, October 25. 1 A semi-official message says that { the Austrian General Staff is making ( efforts to compensate for the loss of men, and has greatly developed armaments. The number of medium and heavy guns has been doubled, and the light artillery increased by one-quar-ter. The machine-guns and trench artillery are also greatly increased, also revolver guns, drawn by dogs, are largely used in the front trenches, especially in the mountains. It is estimated that Austro-Hun-gary is employing half a million militarised workmen, in addition to others, in the arsenals. •' 1 ————a— i - I
