The New Zealand Veterans Association received advice from the Commissioner of Pensions that the number of Maori War veterans in receipt of pensions is 1275, number died during year 112, and died up to date 370. The following were the collections and the amounts received in their box collections Miss K. Taylor £o, Miss Rowe £5 8s 6d, Miss Paynter £2 2s Id, O. Masters and S. Jones £2 12s Id, 1. Boon and J. McLean £6 10s. Miss Freer and Miss Fitzgerald also worked untiringly. A list of the articles donated to the Stratford Red Cross bund and the winners is as follows: Marble clock (donated by Mr J. Petrie) won by Mr Campbell Jackson; farthing (donated by Mrs A. I ( . Wilson) auctioned by Mr Lamason, realised 225; three months’ ticket (donated by Mr Foley) won by Mr Ronald Healey ; bag of flour, won by Mrs W. H. Robinson; eggs and bacon (donated by Mrs O’Rilley) won by Mrs Uniackc and Mrs Budge; supper cloth (donated by Mrs Dingle) won fly Mrs W. H. Robinson ; Xmas cake (donated by Mrs E. A. Adlani, Croydon Road, Waipuku, and iced by Mrs J. Olliver) won by Mrs C. S. Gattan, weight guessed 111 b Joz, correct weight lllbs 20z..
