The Cnnard Line announce that the liner Alaunia, of 13,405 tons, when bound from New York to Falmouth, with 200 passengers, struck a mine in the English Channel. After the passengers had been landed at Falmouth the vessel sank. The captain and the majority of the crew were saved.
