TARANAKI WOOL SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALES. NEWTON KING’S REPORT. At my monthly sale of the above produce held on Tuesday, October 17th, I offered the following catalogue:—lo Imles and 6U sacks wool 1805 sheepskins, 5 casks and 42 tins tallow, 5-18 Itides and 3841 calfskins. There was a good attendance of buyers, and bidding was exceptionally spirited throughput. Prices for crutchings showed an advance of ijd per lb. There wa:a keen demand for sheepskins, and i secured from 12!|d to 13d per lb for j. 41,,g00d found pelted butcher skins. Mid up {7 22s each for full-woolled slur -. floili the above prices are j h<* highest yet received at my sale. Cow hides also showed a distinct advance of fully Id to -3d, ox hides generally being a shade easier. Butcher cow sold up to 11-gd and farmers cow to 10-id. Tallow was firm at late, rates. Calfskins again advanced id to -;d per lb, with the demand unsatisfied at the higher range. I quote;— Crutchings in bales 9d to lOid. lambs 12;i'd, badly seedy 4(1. In sacks: crutchings 8d to 10-J-d, fine fleece 14.R1, coarse 131(1, seedy 6d to 11 yd, dead 12d to 13jd, locks and pieces 54 to 7id, lambs 13d, black 10-Jd. * Sheepskins.—Medium 13(1, coarse 123 dto 13d, lambs 121(1 to 123 d, damaged 103 d, farmers’ coarse IHd to 12-Jd, hoggets lid to 12-id, lambs 7ld to 1 Old, dead IOJd to lid, dead lambs Sid, dead and damaged 7Jd to 9(1, skin pieces s.}d to bid, pelts s id, damaged pelts 24(1 to 4d.
