In the Dairy Pens, there was a good entry of heifers, hut the quality was poorer than that yarded at my recent sales. Heifers sold from •£$ 10s to Cl I 15s, small or backward £5 15s to £7 10s. averaging £8 10s (id. On Wednesday 11th, at rny Inglewood yards, there was a lull yarding, with a good attendance of buyers, who made spirited competition for all classes of stock, all prices showing a sharp advance. A nicely marked line of 15-month to 2-year-old Holstein empty heifers made £(J Us, other empty heifers £5 12s to £7 (id, according to frame, yearling steers (mostly small) £5 2s to £5 13s (id, yearling to 15-monlli heifers £4 .‘D to £4 13s, mixed colour yearlings £3 11s Gd, fat cows £l2 Is to £l4. forward cows up to £lO 15s, store cows E 8 3s to £9, smaller framed 1 £6’ 15s, dairy bulls £lO 15s to £l2,' out sound bull £ll, small hoggets 21s 9(1 to 21s Dd. In the Dairy Pens, 1 had a record entry of good cattle which sold very readily, the 109 heifers and cows sold during the afternoon, making a very line average of £ll 3s. Best dairy cows sold‘tip to £lB 10s, and heifers (choice) to £ls 17s 6d. On Thursday, ]2th inst., at Btony River, for my Annual Horse Fair, horses were sent forward in more than advertised numbers. With the exception of Mr R. F. Roebucks 17 waggon horses, there was little enquiry, only 48 horses being cleared during the . day, and a good number of those at very low prices. At the Stratford Hull Fair on Friday 13th, there 1 was a good enquiry for most classes, particularly Shorthorns. Pedigree Jersey bulls' made from 9 to 30 guineas, pedigree Holstein 15 guineas, pedigree Shorthorn 32 guineas, grade Shorthorns £l2 to £27, grade Holsteins £9 5s to £ls l()s, grade Jerseys £7 to £.lO 10s.

At Rahotu on the samr clay, there was a fair entry, all of which sold under keen competition as follows: — Yearling steers £5 3s to £5 15s. yearling heifers £3 18s 6d to £1 11s. small yearlings £3 13s, fat cows £l4, forward cows £lO 9s. store cows £8 2s 6d to £9, daily cows £ls 15s, springing heifers (mostly small) £7 15s to £9 12s 6tl, empty 2-year heifers (rough) £6 Os 6d to £6 6s, Shorthorn bulls £l3 15s to £2l. Jersey" bulls 13 to 11 guineas, Ayrshire bull £lO., good store pigs £2 2s 6d. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT The Department of Agriculture, Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated London, October 11, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand. Butter.—The market is quiet and prices are slightly weaker. Danish, demand is rather quiet, per cwt. 208 s to 2125; Irish creamer, salted 194 s to 198 s, unsalted 196 s to 200 s; New Zealand. market is steady, salted 198 s to 200 s; American creamery, salted IS-ls to 188 s; Argentine, salted 191 s to 106 s, unsalted 1965.
