AN ACCIDENT IN LONDON. LIEUTENANT WARD’S MOTOR HITS TRAM. MOTOR SMASHED, MAN v bruised. Press Association— Copyright. United Service. (Received 9.15 a.m.) London, October 18. Sir Joseph Ward’s third son Lieutenant Gladstone Ward, while motoring in Loudon collided with a tram in a darkened street, the result being that the' motor was smashed and Lieutenant Ward was taken to the hospital with his face bruised and head cut. Sir Joseph Ward, in the course of an interview, said he and Mr Massey were highly satisfied with the hospital arrangements for die New, Zealanders. The accommodation was excellent, and the men were grateful and -cheerful. VISIT TO THE GRAND FLEET. A MESSAGE FROM JELLICOE. “CO ON AS THEY HAVE BEGUN.” JERRAM’S CORDIAL WELCOME. At the invitation of the Admiralty, representatives of the chief Dominion newspapers are visiting the Grand Fleet, cruiser squadron, shipbuilding yards, and munition works. Admiral Sir John Jollicpe received* and entertained the party on the Iron Duke, In response to a request for a message to the Dominiohs, Admiral Jollicoe said,: “Tell them to go on as they have begun.” Later, the party visited the other ships, including one on which was Vice-Admiral Jerram, who said ho was glad the representatives of the Dominions were able to see the ships in working trim. The more the Mother country and the Dominions saw of each other, the better for all concerned.
