A serious case of lead .poisoning among dairy cattle came under the notice of the local Inspector of Stock (Mr P. Beere) during this week. A Fariki dairy farmer lost four valuable cows from the effects of eating paint, ...the undation of which was white lead. Lead, in any form, is fatal to stock, and seldom responds to treatment unless dealt with in the initial stage. Every care should be taken by owners of stock to eliminate from the precincts of cowsheds and yards any old tins or drums that have been the receptacles for paint. Every year cases of the foregoing description come under notice, and at this time when cattle, and especially dairy ruhng at such a high figure, tlio loss sustained by an owner such as just described is most severe. The lnsv>?ctor,: remarks that in.cases of mysterious,, mortality among cows, there is every probability that upon a thorough investigation, the ~ same cause would have been brought to light as obtained in the present instance. .'/

It is satisfactory to learn that the visit of Messrs K. Masters, C A. Wilkinson, E. Dixon, and the secretary (P. S. Wlutcombe), representing the Taranaki Education Board, who went to Wanganui for the purpose of adjusting financial matters with the Waganui Board (represented by Messrs F. Pirani, F/F. Hemingway, and the Secretary (Mr W'.'%. jSwanger), was not only a pleasant one, but cheered the visiting members by the amicable and friendly spirit in which they were received by the Wanganui Board. The financial position generally was discussed relatirft to the rebuilding of'schools and other matters, resulting \n a fair and equitable arrangement' being arrived at between th j, respective Boards. Whilst at Wanganui, the visiting members were taken to Wanganui East and Aramoho schools, which are on the latest plans. , The visiting members were particularly interested in the Montsorri system of teaching infants'. Altogether the Taranaki Board members highly appreciated the manner in which they were entertained by the members of the Wanganui Board.
