WHANGAMOMONA.
(From our own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Whangamomona Presbyterian "Mission took place in the Whangamomona Hall Wednesday evening. The Moderator (Rev. J. Dawson C. Madill, of Stratford) presided and delivered a suitable address. Mr A. H. Norrie, resident missionary, read the annual report, which showed that services had been conducted weekly at Whangamomona, and, as far as weather conditions would allow, fortnightly at Pohokura and Kohuratahi; monthly at Tahora, Whitiahga Valley, Te Wera and Huiakama, and quarterly at Putilcituna. Occasional services had also been conducted at Douglas,' Tututawa and in the Ohura distinct. Of these services those at 'Pohokura and Whitianga Valley are the most encouraging in attendance. Sunday School work is receiving due attention under the following superintendents: Whangamomona, .Mi' A. V. Sharpe; Kohuratahi, Mrs Bennett: Whitianga Valley, Mrs Nairn. Votes of thanks were accorded the choirmaster Mr Fawkner, the late organists (Mrs Aylward and Miss Bradley), the present local organist (Mrs Bovis\, and Misses Hight and Hills at Kohuratahi Mrs A. McClnggage, and Mr' Coates at Pohokura, .Mrs Nolan at Te Wera, Miss Franks and Miss West at Huiaka.ma. The school committees at Tahora. Pohokura, Whitianga Valley, the hall committees of Kohuratahi, Te Wera,'and ' Whangamomona, and the trustees of the Huiakama Church were thanked for the use of their buildings for services. The following were elected as representatives on a general committee of management: Mi Sharpe, honorary secretary ; Mr Long, honoray treasurer;; Mi- Sutherland for Kohuratahi; Messrs 'Nairn and Harrie, Whitianga Valley; Mr Hogg, Pohokura; Mr Carmichael, jun., Huiakama; and Mr Kennedy, senr., Tahora. The financial report showed that the revenue of the church was steadily increasing, the' income for the last quarter being the largest in the history of the station. The Moderator congratulated the misskmairv and the congregation on the satisfactory report. During;,tile evening, Mr A. F. Sharpe,, Jvas solemnly ordained as an Elder of the Church. Mr Pitcaithly being prevented by illness from attending it was agreed that his ordination should take place on a suitable Sunday at Pohokura. Mr Lilley, Elder of Stratford, who has always taken a practical interest in the cause at Whangamomona, gave a characteristic address to the congregation on their duties to ■ the Elders. News has- been received of the death at Matawhero of Mi- Archie Brodie an old n ident here and well known in connection with stock matters.
