The oft-reported evacuation of Monastir has at last begun. . French airmen report that German aeroplane hangars have been removed, and that columns of waggons are proceeding to Prilep. A Serbian message states that on the Gerna, breaches have been made in, the principal Bulgar defences. In the Monastir valley 'heavy Serbian artillery are bombing positions, where the rearguard will probably make a last stand in order to facilitate withdrawal from the town. Though the Bulgarians still liavo the Babuna heights, the rear of Babuna is exposed to a new danger of envelopment. The Bulgarians liavo constructed two good roads along the Cerna, which the Serbian army wiil probably be able to use to circumvent Babuna.

It is significant that some Bulgarians from Monastir have reinforced the Moglena section. A French communique states: The Serbians gained a foothold on the Brod. Aeroplanes bombed Prilep. and Philippopolis.

The High Commissioner reports: London, October 13 (2.55 p.m.)

The British official report from Salonika states: On the Struma front we pushed our patrols at Exaerosenik and Topolova to east »of the railway. Our armoured cars reconnoitred at the junction of the SeresDemirihissar and Seres-Salonika roads. The enemy holding the railway was found in strength about the Nishor-Doiran front. Northward of Doldzeli, hostile trenches were raided, and after strong resistance the enemy fled. ALLIES MAKE PROGRESS. Press Association—Cotpyright, Australian and N.Z. The War Office on. the 13th states: Reports from the Struma front, from Prosenik to Polova show that patu-ols went forward east of the railv r ay.
