Among the , wounded \s: W ■ Rugg, who was for some,time Messrs Kerr and Co., and, left "i . the Fifth Refinements. He *as Wounded at Gallipoli, returned to the firing line in France, when he was again wounded on the '2Bth September, and then embarked for England. Private Rugg was a splendid type of man and a native of Cairnley, Kemnay, Aberdeenshire.

Referring to the ,late Lieutenant Liardet; who death was recorded m these columns a few days ago * e Wellington Dominion says: Mr t • N. Liardet, general manager m New Zealand of the Ocean Accident and Guarantee Corporation, has been advised Of the death in France of his son Lieutenant Leonard Maugia Liardet, of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces. Lieut. Liardet, who was 24 years of age, was bora a Stratford, and was educated at tie High School in that town, subsequently studying law -at Victoria College For some time he was on the s a of the Accident Insurance Co., ami was in the office of Messrs Dell, Gully, Bell and Myers when he enlisted’. From an early age h e took a keen interest in military matters. When 12 years old he was bug or in the Stratford Mounted Rifles, ol which his father was then captain. He took a keen interest m the cat e corps. Before leaving Stratford ne was a lieutenant in the District Hig < School Cadets. He accompanied Ins parents to Wellington m 1908, ant attained the rank of 2nd lieutenant in the sth Wellington Regiment. He went to Samoa with the Expeditionary Force, and on returning to Wellington he joined the 2nd Batt.i ion of the New Zealand Rifle Bngace, with which he left for Egypt as a Ist lieutenant. In April last he went to' France, where he was woum et m the Battle.of Flers on September 1 • Death occurred in the 20th Genera Hospital at Camieres. While Egypt the deceased, who was a very popular , officer, was placed in charge of the bombers.
