PERSONAL.

. An old Crimean veteran who was well-known in Stratford, died on Tuesday at the- residence of bis daughter, Mrs R. A. Mclntyre, Sydney Street, Wellington. He arrived in Xew Zealand by the ship Huntress in April, 1863, and after residing for seme years in Canterbury, went to Xew Plymouth, and at last settled in Wellington. The late Mr Fowler, who. was in Ids 82nd year, is survived by bis seven sons and four daughters. namely, -Mrs Stuart (Auckland), Mrs Balfour (Wanganui), Mr_ C. I). Sole (Stratford), Mrs R. A. Mclntyre (Wellington), Messrs F. and Walter Fowler (Christchurch, T. Fowler (Wanganui), Alfred Fowler (Sydney), Ernest, now serving with the Expeditionary Force in France, and two others.
