The trial of Alfred Charles, Jewell Devoin, who is charged with tha murder of-Louisa White in the Nairn Street Reserve', Wellington, on May 14, began in the Supreme Court to-, day (states the Press Association). \on, being asked to plead, accused /&$!: "I tried to kill myself. I did nit"fire "at* her. I loved her.", The question was twice again repeated., and the same answer being given, ljitOg!e'Chapman then ordered a plea of nokgnilty to be, entered. The ease is proceeding. ;r The> Law" Society's application to have Charles Edward Harden, of Atickland, struck off the rolls of barristers and solicitors of the SupremeCourt was called upon before che Court of Appeal.
