NEW NOTE ISSUE.
BANK OF NEW ZEALAND PAPER. The Bank of New Zealand has decided to issue a now design of o.ie and five pound not* s. ihe new one poauu note is similar in size to the old one, but it is a far more coloured produce-on, having at least seven diucrent and distinct tints. It is also a much more p.vsonuihlt) article than its piiu.eces;,or. The wording on the note uuics ou.. little with tne old one, but t.ie saun blocks indicative oi New Zealand have been preserved, only they are >-t differently } in the new i.oiei being placed to the right and the left of the body of the note instead of one above the other. The back of the new note is almost as elaborate as the front, and is a fine sample of the ' engraver's art. j The new five pound note is larger than the one the public Ims been accustomed to handle, and it is also a more pleasing article from the aesthetic viewpoint. It., too. resembles Jacob's coat, many colours being run together, in quite an artistic manner. The same blocks are used in the j "fiver" as in the less valuable note, although the positions are reversed. The back view of this note, is again • elaborate, but hardly as much so as the one pound note.
The new issues will take tlie places of the old ones as ..the latter run out. The notes have been distributed to the various points in Xew Zealand, and no doubt they will soon bo in general use.
