APPEARANCE OF A SUICIDE

The bodj of a man named Frederick Treves, aged 35 years, was found in the Te Popo river, near the Midhirst Dairy Factory yesterday morning. It appears that he had been in Stratford and district for about a week, and apparently had been drinking. On Saturday night he called at the Midhirst Hotel, and asked for a soft drink, which was supplied to him, but he did not take it. He behaved in a peculiar manner, throwing his arms up, : and then rushed towards the bridge. No further notice was taken of hinu

Next morning his coat was found on 1 the road. Owing to the man's strange manner, the hotel proprietor (Mi' Pars'ons) reported to the police that he was missing. On returning 'towards Midhirst he learnt that thbock had been found .under the T« Popo bridge by a boy named Hambiyn. The man was lying on his back. Evidently he'jumped over the bridge. He is believed to iiave a brother working in the* Whangamomona district.
