The anti-conscription campaign opened in the Town Hall) which was packed. A big over-flow meeting was held in the street, Messrs 1* inlayson and Anstey, Federal members, were the chief speakers. The proceedings were orderly, and resolutions wore carried against conscription for service abroad, the meeting pledging itself to use every lawful means against the carrying of the referendum.
