. A German communique states:— Continuous hand-grenade fighting occurs at Courcelette. We repulsed attacks at Piers, Les Bouofs, and Comblcs. We lost after bitter fighting the previously-won ground at Bouchavesnos south-west of Raneourt. The Russian Guards continue to attack west of Luck in sanguinary storming attacks on a twenty kilometre front near Korytnica. The enemy gained local successes in the ■Carpathians at the Pakyr Pass and Tuiarce. He stormed Ludowa seven times.
We captured the Smotrec summit and occupied frontier heights astride the Vulcan Pass.
In Dobrudja the fighting is at a standstill.
Bulgarian cavalry dispersed the retreating enemy east of Fiorina, taking prisoners and many machineguns. Serbian attacks failed at Kajmackalan and Moglena.
