Twenty-seven Americans who were aboard the Kelvina arrived to-day. They informed tlie State Department that a submarine torpedoed the steamer without warning at two o'clock •in the morning. The torpedo, struck, the port side and although it was evident that the ship was sinking, the submarine did not attempt to render assistance. The crew were forced to remain in a small boat for fourteen hours until rescued by a British trawler.
