The Commission for the Relief of Belgium is asking Americans for a million dollars a month in order\to avert widespread sickness and death, owing to the lack of food. The director of the Commission in America, reports that there is an alarming increase in tuberculosis, particularly among the Belgian children, due to their lessened power of resistance. Owing to inadequate diet, there is great mortality among the children. The commission bases the estimate of supplies on the assumption that the war will last another year.
