The Arhburton County Racing Club's spring meeting opened to-day. The weather was fine and the going good, and there was a large attendance. The totalisator handled £ll,jl3B, against £14,440 10s on the corresponding day last year. Results:

First Hurdle Handicap, of USstivs; one mile and three-quarters.—Bill Terry (9.3) 1, Awahou ?10.13) 2, Sattosta (9.3) 3. ( Also started: Kingsway, Darby Paul, S. Curio, and Free. Won by half a length. Time, 3.18 1-5.

i Ashburton Comity Handicap, of 200 sovs; one mile and a quarter.— Fiery Cross (6.7) 1, Ringform (8.0) 2, .Marc Antony (8.9) 3. Also started: Snub, Chrysotis, Battle Eve, and Marsa. Won by two lengths. Time, 2.5 3-5.

Also started: Pyjama, Countess Tolstoi. Won by two lengths. Time, 1.15 3-5. STRATFORD RACINC CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the above Club was held yesterday., when there were present:—Messrs Young ■ chair), Morrison, Stewart, Pitt. Mackav. and Abraham. The Secretory was instructed to write to the Taranaki Jockey Club and make enquiries re their catering arrangements. It wa s decided that the Club should purchase and erect a modern numberboard before the New Year meeting, Messrs Abraham. Mackay and Pitt being empowered to obtain designs and quotations for same. The report of the programme subcommittee was read and adopted. It was decided to donate €7 7s to the A. and P. Association. The matter of purchase of gravel from W. Green was left in the Hands of Messrs Pitt and Stewart, Mr H. C. Strombom, of Whaugamomona, was duly elected a memoer of the Club.
