250,000 REFUGEES IN BUDAPEST. Press Association—Copyright, Australian and N.Z. Cahle Association. London, September 14. The Morning Post's correspondent at Budapest states that the whole of the Hungarian nation is engaged in housing and succoring refugees from Transylvania, numbering a quarter of a million. The wealthy arrived penniless and half starved. Of&cial aid was unavailable. An unknown man stood at the railway station with a bundle of bank-notes and handed one to every refugee. The Archduchess Augusta spends her daj(B at the station distributing milk to' children and comforting the refugees. REPORTED CAPTURE OF HALICZ. New York, September 15. The Petrograd correspondent of the Chicago Daily News cables that General Cherbatchev's army has captured Halicz, after twelve days' fighting. The report adds: The Russians steadily shelled Halicz at short range and fired a portion of the town. Many prisoners were taken, including Turks. The report is unconfirmed from other sources.
