Dr. Wylie. late of New Plymouth, is now in charge of an English military hospital. Advice from England states that Mrs W. G. Malone, wife of the late Lieutenant-Colonel Malone, may return to New Zealand about the end of the year, as she finds the winter months very trying. Mrs E. Cuff, of Haleombe, received word from the Minister or Defence yesterday afternoon to the effect that her son, Trooper W. M. Cuff, had been killed in action. Trooper Cuf% who left New Zealand with the 7th Reinforcements, was well-known in the Stratford district as an athlete. Two of the late Trooper Cuff's brothers, Messrs A. F. Cuff and S. J. Cuff, reside in Stratford. At a farewell social at Kaponga on Monday (■veiling to Corporal Roylston Grace of the 18th reinforcements, there was a large gathering of residents. The guest of the evening was presented by the Kaponga Patriotic Society with a wristlet watch, and by tlie residents with a pair of military gloves. The Rev. 0. M. Stent, who made the presentation, spoke of the esteem in which Corporal Grace and his parents were held. In thanking the donors, the recipient said that while doing his duty on the other side he would always remember his many friends at Kaponga. A quiet wedding was solemnised at the Presbyterian Church yesterday afternoon 'when Miss E. Brayshaw, third daughter of Mr J. W. Brayshaw formerly of Stratford, was married to Mr W. Sullivan, of Whakatane. The officiating minister was the Rev. J. Dawson C. Madill. The bride, who was attended by Miss E. O'Tooie, wore a navy blue tailored costume and a navy and cream hat. Mr W. Besley acted as best man. The bridesmaid wore a charming grey pinafore dress with crepe de chene top. The happy couple left for Auckland en route to their future home by the boat last evening.
