FOLEY’S PICTURES. A THRILLING DETECT!VE DRAMA His Majesty’s Theatre was comfortably filled last night, with an audience the membere of which greatly enjoyed the excellent bill ol fare presented by the management. Ihe principal attraction, a smart detective drama, was quite a departure from the usual Sherlock Holmes detective picture. The scenery, costumes, and acting in “Monsieur Lecocq,” produced by the “Thauhouser” Co, is presented on the same lavish scale as their recent success, “The Million Dollar Mystery,”

and last night’s patrons were not slow to recognise two favourites, (Florence anid the Butler) in this new detective drama. In the comedy film, “His Luckless Love,” a new comedian, Mr. George Over, is introduced to picture goers, who promises to. hi 1 a formidable rival to the famed Charles Chaplin. Other pictures screened were, “A journey to Montenegro,” “War Gazette,” and “Jerrys’ Big Game.” The items by the orchestra were again a feature of the evening. An exclusive attraction is promised for to-mor-row night, in which the great international star, Miss Gaby Deslys is featured. The press are unanimous in proclaiming this film as a fascinating production.

THE DANDIES, Mr Edward Branscomhe’s clover en[tortainors, “The Dandies,” will visit Stratford, and appear in the Town Hall, next Saturday evening. The merit of “The Dandies” as an amusement organisation is well known. For several season’s they have been appearing throughout the Dominion with excellent success. They are 'favorably remembered locally as a bright coterie of artists, who present a clever and crisp entertainment of excellent variety in their own particular sphere. “The Pink Dandies” are described as one of the most versatile bodies appearing under the Edward Branscombe banner. Several records for lengthy seasons are claimed for the visiting company, amongst them being nine months’ at Brisbane, and seven months’ each at Adelaide and Perth. Since coming to New Zealand they have appeared for four weeks in Wellington and Auckland respectively. “The Dandies” will present an attractive programme which includes several of the latest musical comedy successes. The box plan opens at Grubb’s on Wednesday.
