THE ST. LAWRENCE BRIDGE DISASTER.

Ninety m'en were thrown off tin; central span of the bridge :s it was being floated into position. Some of the bodies were recovered. Spectators on tli%’ banks rescued numbers in boats. The span fell two hundred feet to the bottom of the river, and it is be- • . * f. heved is irrecoverable. Arrangements were complete for the opening of the bridge in a few weeks. The structure was intended to shorten the route between Montreal and Eastern Canada. The,Dominion and Cabinet members saw the catastrophe in company with the Australian members of Parliament who were returning from the Empire Parliamentary Conference. Steamer traffic is completely suspended on the St. Lawrence. The death roll is given as twenty.
