FOTLEY'S PICTURES. "CROOKED TO THE END." To-night .11. M. Theatre patrons will have an opportunity of seeing the surprise Mack Sennett, the great Keystone producer, sprang on the inhabitants of Los Angelos. At six o'clock one morning Los Angelos was appalled by the spectacle of two railway engineaxlashing towards one another oh a, single line; and piling up head on in a frightful collision. An hqur later a train rattled down the main street with a girl hanging perilously to the electric pole, followed by a tornado of revolver shots. -Simultaneously two racing cars started to elbow one another all over the footpath and ended' up. in a ditch. A moment later a nitro-glycerine explosion wrecked the whole front of a shop. Shouts for help came from an old man who appeared to he drowning ,111 the park lake, "and a bear waddling contentedly across the reserve put a band of rescuers l to flight. Then as a climax to the day's* excitement, a tram tore clean through a dead-end and toppled sheer over a cliff, crashing to the ground two hundred feet' below. These ai;e a few of the • cyclonic scenes in the two reel Keystone star comedy, and a good programme supports the hig film, including "The War Gazette" and live other subjects, the usual matinee will be held on Saturday at 1.30 p.m.. \ CATHOLIC SOCIAL. The Catholic Social held, in the Town Hall last evening was well attended. The floor was taxed to its utmost with dancers and the • dress circle was also well filled with nondancers. During the evening the following contributed to the musical programme: Miss Fieldes sang "Coming Home" in splendid style, and in response to an encore sang "What Shall I Sing You," with good effect. Mr Walters gave a nice rendering of "Border Ballad" and as an encore sang "Staunch and True." Mr Geo. Bradley sang a comic item and had to respond to an encore. The dance music was supplied by -Mrs Bianchi's Orchestra to the delight of the dancers. Extras were kindly played by Mr,Fox, Miss Sullivan and Miss Fitzgerald. Much is due to the committee who worke/l so hard to make the social a success. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the social, which did not break up till the early hours of the morning. Mr Thos. Sullivan made an efficient M.C. "
