THE MANGAPEHI MURDER.
ACCUSED SUFFERING FROM MANIA. Pkr *TTOM. Hamilton, September 7. The grand jury returned a true bill in tlio case of Toete Kainnku, a Raratongan native, oliarged with tlie murder of Kenneth Livingstone, and the attempted murder of Charles McFarlano, shepherds, at Lonely Bush station near Mangapehi, in the King Country, early- in July. hen the case was mentioned before Justice Cooper to-day, Dr. Beattie, in charge of the Avondale Asylum, said that Kainnku, who was under detention there, was suffering from an acute attack of mania and was dangerously homicidal. He was unlit to tiarel, and it would be dangerous to allow him out in his present condition. Ihe mania might subside in a lew weeks. The trial was therefore postponed.
