The death is announced from London of the Rev. Canon Edward Moore, the well-known authority on Dante. The conference of the Secondary Schools Assistants’ Association opened in Wellington to-day. The President, in his address, stressed the importance of the study of English literature. Remits were carried that one language, not necessarily Latin, in addition to English, should he compulsory for the B.A. Degree; also that e.vMiraphy should receive more attention in the secondary schools.— Press Association.
