Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report as follows: We hold our usual daily sale at Stratford on Tuesday, 15th August, wliei. we had a fair yarding. There nas a medium yarding, with good demand. Our next sale at Te Wera will be hel-.i o.: 15th September, 1916. On the 22nd August, we bold our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards, when there was a small yarding, owing to the rough weather, bub most lines wove cleared at full values. I On Saturday, 26th August, we held our horse fair at the Stratford yards, when there was a fair entry, but not, : very many useful horses. Those suitable for fa rni work and milk carts met

Mod-, iuni draughts made from £lB to £2o, harness horses £8 5s to £l7 ss, hacks £4 to £5, unbroken horses, yearlings £5 to £7 10s, 2-year-olds up to £ls, Shetland pony £9 10s. Horse donated by M. G. A. Treweek was sold and re-sold as follows: R. Knld, Geo. Bell, A. J. Cranton si. Gall, tt. Wickham, J. Fawkner Loan and Mercantile, and Moller, all 5s each: J. D. Healy and W. McAloon, 2s 6d each. On the 22nd August, we held our usual wool, skin and hide sale. We had a fair catalogue, containing 100 packages wool, 003 sheepskins, and over 40!) hides. Wool.- Crutchings showed a decline, in sympathy with other markets oi about 2d per V\ consequently we passed in several lines, as owners' reserves were not obtainable. Apparently the recent high prices will not he maintained in the near future. Sheepskins in good condition showed a slight advance, and were keenly competed for. Hides and calfskins were in good demand, and sold at full market values. The following prices were obtained : Wool.—Mixed fleece, pt. dead, 9.|d to ordinary lines lid; crutchings, Bi{d to lOd, according to quality and cleanliness. Sheepskins.—-Felly and short-wool-ldd, 3d to b'. ; ,'d per lb; heavier skins, with fair wool, sijd to BJd; good pelts, in full wool, 10d to lid; fair butchers' skins, but slightly damp, made \ip to IOJd per lb; salted pelts 5s 3d to 7s Gd each. Hides.—Settlers: light cow hides, 7|d to B.UI, slippy Old; yearlings, 8d per lb; calfskins, fleshy, 9',d per lb; medium quality 10k!; well wooded good skins, up to Is per lb; butchers' hides, light, 9ijd to lOd per lb. Tailow.—ln tins, 22s 3d to 23s 6d. Our next wool, skin and hide sale will be held on the 19th September, 191. G. Sines our last report, we have disposed of a considerable amount of stock privately at the following prices: Dairy herds £1 ! lis, steers .£8 17s 6d, yearling steers £5 7s 3d, store cows .£(! 12s 6d to £7 10s. empty heifers £'(>, hoggets 20s Gd to 21s 3d, wethers up to 29s Id.
